Peace Wall
Warrandyt's new Peace Wall is more than a place for visitors to relax.
The public art is the result of contributions from more than 1000 people.
Designed by artists Denise Keele-bedford and Walter Magilton and created by ceramicists Mary-Lou and Chris Pittard, the huge mosaic depics Warrandyte's natural landscape.
The Warrandyte Uniting Church, which came up with the idea, sought input from community groups, schools, other faiths, kinders and a range of individuals.

Wall a symbol of peace
More than 1000 people have contributed to a new piece of public art in Warrandyte.
The Warrandyte Uniting Church - with help from Manningham Council - has created 'Peace Wall' where locals and visitors can go to relax.
The project, launched last Sunday, was designed by artists Walter magilton and Denise Keele-bedford and features community mosaic led by ceramicists Mary-Lou and Chris Pittard.
Project manager Leeanne Keam said 'Peace Wall' had been created with Warrandyte's natural environment in mind.
"In today's climate, a place which encourages quiet reflection, offers solace and peaceful enjoyment is something which is beneficial to a community," she said.
"Creation of the 'Peace Wall' involved partnership with other local community groups, schools, other faiths, kinders and a range of individuals.
"The theme of peace was open to individual interpretation and the final product was the culmination of more than 1000 people's input," she said.
Manningham Mayor Pat Young said the council contributed $3500 towards the project through the Community Development Grant Program 2005/06. Cr. Young said the grant panel was impressed by the church's proposal to create "a community space with the aim pf promoting peace."
She said the project "reflects the vibrant and active community life we have here in manningham."
'Peace Wall' is located at the corner of Taroona Ave and West End Road.
