June 2004 Denise was awarded a Bundanon residency.

The residency on on the Shoalhaven River at Arthur Boyds property resulted in works on paper and an installation 'Rock, paper, water'

September and October 2004 Denise was awarded an Australia-China Council Residency.

She undertook 'tuo'lessons with Ho Xiansheng at the Confucian Temple in Beijing

When lessons finished Denise took her new skills to 798 Arts District in Beijing to make copies of metal Utility Covers.

August 2003 Denise undertook a Redgate Artist-in-residence.

The residency resulted in an exhibition at the Western academy of Beijing
